Legalization of Marijuana

I strongly believe that the legalization of marijuana could be beneficial to the world as a whole. This perception is not based on the recreational use of the drug, but for purposes that can benefit a multitude of people. First off, marijuana has medicinal purposes that can be used to cure or treat patients. Why would you want to refuse someone a cure to an illness? This is clearly a positive effect of the drug. Secondly, if marijuana is legalized, many teens won’t feel it “rebellious” to utilize the drug. One of the main attractions to the drug is the fact that it’s a illegal. Teens crave that adrenaline rush from doing something they shouldn’t be. If legalized, it would cut down on the number of teens drawn to the curiosity of “just trying it.” Legalization would also cut down on drug trafficking and the resulting arrests. Less illegal actions would be taking place and there would be more rooms in prisons for heinous crimes. With less people in jails, taxpayers won’t have to pay as much money. Who doesn’t want less expensive taxes? Finally, the selling of marijuana could also be beneficial for the economy. We could tax the drug, making less people want to buy it. This way it could be strictly used for medicinal purposes, as is usually the greatest intention of those who want to legalize it. What are your views on the legalization of marijuana?

  1. I agree. I believe the legalization of marijuana should be passed by the government. All of the reasons stated above clearly show that it could improve the well being of our country as a whole. Maybe if more people keep fighting this issue with that type of reasoning, President Obama will pass it. But we will never know until the day arrives... if it does.

  2. I see it's medical benefits which it should be used for and is in some states. But I don't think it should be allowed as a recreational drug.

  3. I think that the legalization of marijuana could be beneficial for medical cures but I'm not sure if it will stop kids from using it. If it is going to be legal I think taxing the drug would be a good idea but I don't think that many people will not want to buy it since drug dealers would still be selling it.
